Within the pediatric medicine area at Skåne University Hospital (Sus), we provide care for children and adolescents in both Lund and Malmö. We have outpatient clinics, wards, and emergency departments at both locations.

At the pediatric emergency department, we meet children who come in acutely with illnesses or as a result of accidents. Here we care for children and young people up to 18 years old who need emergency medical care. We receive children with general medical issues and those with surgical conditions up to 15 years old. During on-call hours, we also receive children with issues from the ear, nose, and throat region. We have a unit manager nurse who works during the day and is available as an experienced support for both our new hires and established colleagues. We have two functional nurses and a functional pediatric nurse, who work 50 percent in care and 50 percent with mentorship and introduction, as well as development of our unit.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We welcome you as a driven and engaged nursing assistant or pediatric nurse who wants to help develop emergency care for children with us.

You will work with common tasks in a pediatric emergency department, such as nursing, sampling, care, and treatment of acutely ill children. The introduction also includes training in patient-related analyses, basic pediatrics, emergency exercises, medical technology, and our triage tool RETTS.

We have a five-week introduction period, but your introduction is individual and will of course be adapted based on your previous experiences. As a new employee, you will always have the support of an experienced colleague. You will also have at least one mentor, who has extensive experience working in pediatric and emergency care, during your introduction period and thereafter depending on your wishes and needs.

In your role as a nursing assistant/pediatric nurse in the pediatric emergency department, your tasks will consist of nursing and treatment of the acutely ill child. With us, you will encounter a varied and stimulating work environment in a good working atmosphere that requires flexibility and collaboration.

We offer a TimeCare schedule, which means that you will work 37 hours a week and be employed in a combined day and night shift, where you work two weekends every five weeks. We have scheduled short training sessions/lectures several days a week, as well as emergency exercises. Additionally, we have four training days per year for employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant and meets the Socialstyrelsen's requirements for a protected professional title, regardless of whether you have studied under the previous or current program structure. If you have studied under the previous program structure, we welcome you with a focus on emergency care/healthcare or someone who is a trained pediatric nurse. Additionally, you have good knowledge of the Swedish language. We would like you to have experience working as a nursing assistant and/or pediatric nurse, preferably within pediatric care. Experience working in a pediatric emergency department is a merit.

Your positive attitude contributes to a good working climate, and as a person, you are secure in your professional role and can easily adapt to the changing circumstances that working in an emergency department entails. You feel confident in your priorities and always have the patient in focus, even when the pace is sometimes high. We highly value that you are engaged and have an interest in pediatric care.
